Loopaper Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Loopaper is a native macOS app made by SyrianApps. This policy explains, in plain language, what information Loopaper does and does not handle. The short version: Loopaper collects nothing about you, has no servers, and runs entirely on your own Mac. There are no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no sign-in. We've written this policy to be honest and specific, because privacy is one of the reasons Loopaper exists.
The short version
Loopaper collects no personal data. It has no servers of its own, makes no network calls of its own, and includes no analytics, tracking, telemetry, or advertising. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.
Your videos, images, and settings are stored locally on your Mac. If you choose to turn on the optional iCloud sync, your content stays inside your own iCloud Drive (Apple's infrastructure, under your own Apple ID) and moves device-to-device between your Macs — the developer never sees it and it never passes through any third party.
The rest of this policy spells out the details.
What we collect
Essentially nothing. Loopaper does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
Specifically, Loopaper does NOT:
- Track you or your activity, in or out of the app.
- Use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any usage measurement.
- Show ads or work with advertising or data-broker networks.
- Require or create an account, profile, email, or sign-in.
- Operate any Loopaper servers — there is no backend to send data to.
- Make network calls of its own.
There is no Loopaper database of users because there are no Loopaper users on any server. The app simply runs on your Mac and does its job.
Your media and settings are stored locally
When you add a video, image, GIF, or Live Photo to Loopaper, the app copies that file into its own local Application Support folder on your Mac. Your library, per-display assignments, playlists, schedules, fit modes, and other preferences are likewise stored locally on your Mac.
This content lives on your computer, under your control. Loopaper is a non-sandboxed macOS app that reads and writes these files on your own device only. None of it is uploaded anywhere by Loopaper.
Optional iCloud sync
Loopaper offers an optional iCloud sync feature, which is turned OFF unless you choose to enable it. When enabled, your Loopaper library and setup follow you across your own Macs.
How it works and what it means for your privacy:
- Sync uses YOUR OWN iCloud Drive — Apple's infrastructure, under your own Apple ID. Your content is stored as copies in your iCloud Drive, the same way any of your other iCloud Drive files are.
- It is device-to-device, between Macs signed in to your Apple ID. The developer never sees your synced content, and it does not pass through any Loopaper server or any third party — because there are none.
- Because iCloud is an Apple service, Apple's handling of data stored in iCloud is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and terms. We encourage you to review them.
- You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app.
If you never enable iCloud sync, none of your content ever leaves your Mac through Loopaper.
The website
The Loopaper website is a simple static site that exists to describe the app. It does not run analytics or tracking, set advertising cookies, or ask you to sign in.
Like essentially all websites, the site is served by a hosting provider. If the site is hosted on a service such as Cloudflare Pages, that host may automatically keep standard server access logs (for example, IP addresses, timestamps, and the pages requested) as part of normal operation and security. Those logs are handled by the hosting provider under their own policies, and Loopaper does not use them to identify or track you. This is generic, infrastructure-level logging common to the entire web, not something Loopaper adds.
Payments and the future in-app purchase
Loopaper is free to try with every feature unlocked. In the future, a single optional one-time purchase (a "lifetime unlock") will remove a small watermark, forever. There is no subscription, and this purchase is not live yet.
When it does become available, the purchase will be handled entirely by Apple through the standard App Store / in-app purchase system. That means Apple processes the transaction and any payment details. Loopaper never sees, receives, or stores your credit card number or other payment information. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and terms.
Children
Loopaper is a general-purpose wallpaper utility and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at the address below.
Third parties
Loopaper shares no data with third parties, because it collects no data to share and has no servers from which to share it. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services embedded in the app.
The only third parties involved are infrastructure providers you already rely on: Apple, if you choose to use the optional iCloud sync (your own iCloud Drive) or, in the future, the optional in-app purchase; and the website's hosting provider, which may keep standard server logs as described above. In each case, that company handles data under its own privacy policy, not on Loopaper's behalf.
Security
Because Loopaper keeps your content on your own Mac and transmits nothing to any Loopaper server, the most important protections for your data are the ones already on your device — your Mac's user account, disk encryption (such as FileVault), and your overall device security.
If you enable optional iCloud sync, your synced content is protected by Apple's iCloud security as part of your Apple ID. We recommend keeping macOS up to date and securing your Apple ID with a strong password and two-factor authentication.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when a feature like the in-app purchase goes live, or to clarify wording. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Continued use of Loopaper after an update means you accept the revised policy.
